Engineered Wood Flooring allows you to explore down the avenue of real wood with all its beauty and comfort, but with the advantage of a more stable and resilient board. The look and feel of engineered wood flooring are exactly the same as solid wood, only you are able to install in areas that are not recommended for the real McCoy. For example, kitchens and conservatories would not be suitable for a real wood floor. However, Engineered wood is much more resistant to changes in both humidity and moisture, this also makes them the perfect choice for when using underfloor heating.
Engineered wood is generally constructed in three layers, this is vital in producing its resilience.
This is the fancy bit (the bit you’ll see). It’s a beautiful veneered layer of solid wood, which can be textured or smooth, finished with high-performance oil or lacquerer. The finish is probably the most important part, as this is what you will touch and feel.
This is the most vital bit ( what gives the floor stability) The second layer can be a range of different materials but they still working in the same way. So whether is the most common, such as ply-wood or even softwood or HDF. All three are used to prevent the boards from warping.
The finishing touch to the engineered wood is the stabilizing back layer. This prevents this beautiful floor from buckling in areas of moisture change.
